Pengaruh pdrb per kapita, upah minimum provinsi, tingkat pendidikan dan angkatan kerja terhadap perkembangan jumlah tenaga kerja sektor informal di 30 Provinsi Indonesia periode 2004 - 2008
Empirically, the informal sector has a major role on the economy of
developing countries. The informal sector serves as a safety valve for unemployed
workers who are not accomodated in the formal sector. Year period 2004-2008
is the range in which the Indonesian economy is experiencing growth of 5-6
percent per year after the economic crisis in 1998. This increase is expected to
reduce the number of workers in the informal sector.
This study aimed to analyze the effect of GDP per capita, the provincial
minimum wage, education level of the total population of primary school
graduates and labor force to the developmen of informal sector workers in 30
provincial of Indonesia from 2004 to 2008. Using panel data of 30 provincial
economic development and employment in the informal sector shows that the
variable GDP per capita, provincial minimum wage, and labor force have a
negative and significant influence on the dependent variable is the number of
informal workers. While the education level variable as shown by the total
population of primary school graduates do not significantly affect the amount of
labor in the informal sector.
