Exploring user characteristics of transjakarta busway using the stated preference technique
Jakarta has a severe congestion problem. The decision maker in Jakarta has built
TransJakarta Busway on 2004. They had a discourse on building another mass transit options,
such as monorail and subway. The implementation of this expensive mode of transport should be
analyzed extensively. Stated preference technique could be used to analyze fu ture demand, provide
forecast of changes, and provide good quality info on travel demand.
The aim of this research is to explore the user characteristics in selecting future mode of
transport by applying stated preference technique. Data were collected by distributing stated
preference questionnaire to The TransJakarta Passenger. This research applies Multinomial Logit
Model to explore the characteristics.
The model estimates show the ability to explore user characteristics. Two models have
been s uccessfully developed by incorporating SP data. Both models are statistically fit, which also
shows the application of SP data. First model has generic coefficient for each attribute, while the
second model has specific coefficient. The model able to explain the characteristics of the users.
