Merekonstruksi berkembangnya kekristenan : peran perempuan
Modern and ancient historians agree that women especially responsive to the early Christian movement. It also agreed that women were accorded considerably higher status within Christian circles than in the surrounding pagan societies. In this essay I first explain how these two aspects of the early church were connected. Then I explain how an excess of women in the Christian subcultures, combined with a great excess of males in the world around them, would have resulted in a substantial rate of intermarriage. Finally, I show how this would have maintained early Christianity as open network thereby able to sustain attachments to non-members needed for continued growth.
