Allah yang historis

Fundamentally all men and women are longing for God, who transcends everything in the world. However the human person will never be able to reach God, But God approaches him or her. In doing so God enters into human history and becomes part of it. God puts on a human expression, both in the formulation of His word and in the story of His revelation. This formulation and expression however very often becomes the object of faith itself. And the result is pluralism of religion and pluralism of the idea of God. Such pluralismis only acceptable, if all religions admit themselves to be historical and therefore not absolute. Within religion is realized the relationship to God who is absolute. But nobody can deny that religion itself is dependent on tradition and culture, also in the experience of faith itself. So the most important problem is not really the idea of God, but the understanding of the relationship of God to the human being. This relationship is to just historical, but belongs to the basic mystery of creation. The human being is created towards God. He or she is a total openness for God. And within this total orientation towards the divine mystery, the human person is able to meet God in the concrete situation.
