Amazonia 4.0 : an Innovative Socio-Bio-Economy for a Standing Forest

The empowerment of traditional communities that live off the forest by giving them knowledge and access to innovative technologies will promote an increase of social capital and thereby produce a change of behaviour leading to community development. If the communities produce better produce, they will obtain, first, access to markets and partnerships with businesses and investors and, second, the consolidation of a bio-economy of a standing forest that is preserved, since it will be proof that standing forests are worth more than the benefits arising from deforestation. The Amazonia 4.0 project has two components: the Creative Laboratory of Amazonia as a tool to train communities to add value to the cupuacu-cacao chain, and the Rainforest Business School to design a new field of business knowledge for a new generation of specialists.
