Broadband Terahertz Half-Wave Plate With Multi-Layered Metamaterials Designed via Quantum Engineering
In this paper, we propose the novel design of terahertz half-wave plate (HWP) by using the multi-layered metamaterials with some specific rotation angles, which can be given by composite pulse control (a well-known quantum control technique). Comparing to previous multi-layered design, a big advantage of this method can analytically calculate the rotation angles and can be easily extended to the multi-layered design. In this paper, we present the performance of four configurations of matamaterial-based HWP with 1, 3, 5, 7 layers and we demonstrate that our device can broaden the bandwidth by increasing the layer number via composite pulse control.
