Science, Engineering, Technology, and Culture
The purpose of this article is to provide an explanation for a paradoxical phenomenon that we observe on a daily basis—that is, the coexistence of sublime understanding and absurd ignorance. We would also like to discuss why we question our prejudices so rarely; why, after so much evidence in favor of scientific work, we tend to have more confidence in polls and opinions; why it has become ridiculous not to know how to handle the latest products provided by marketing; and, finally, why new generations abhor solitude and silence and, instead, seek refuge in the illusion of notoriety, entertainment, and digital companionship.
