Ultra-Wideband Wireless Channel and Environment Characterization Assisted by Dual Optical Frequency Comb
In this work, a photonic technique based on dual optical frequency comb is proposed to perform ultra-wideband channel sounding that delivers high-resolution channel characterization and high-speed environment monitoring. The proof-of-concept experiments demonstrate the continuous sounding of non-line-of-sight wireless channels with >TS/s sampling resolution and the revealing of an electric fan rotating at up to 1100 rpm. A wireless channel of 12 GHz bandwidth is covered using electronics with less than 60 MHz bandwidth, showcasing the high practicality of the proposed technique in assisting the evolution towards the integration of communication and sensing essential in the next generation of wireless communication.
