Analisa tentang sistem kanban supplier pada PT. Toyota Astra Motor Jakarta

Managing in the right production system of manufacturing products in an
efficient and very productive way, has already become an urgent requirement in
facing the changeable market demand. Therefore, it was needed to make an effort
to reduce any waste.
Just-in Time Production concept in which seeks to eliminate all source of
waste in production activities by providing the right part, at the right place, at the
right time, will lead to a way to produce goods with minimal stocks which will
enable carrying cost saving, so that it can result in a short lead time, suitable price
and qualitative product.
To reach the goal of Just-in Time concept, a tool called Kanban System,
which is communication from necessary information, was develop, so that it can be
functioning as a facility to organize production and to connect all production
process. The Kanban System is an information system that harmoniously controls
the production of the necessary product into necessary quantities at the necessary
time in every process of a factory and moreover among companies.
In this research, PT Toyota Astra Motor is representative enough to be the
observation object compared with other similar type companies in Indonesia. The
method used in this research is case-study method, with analytic descriptive type of
research and using qualitative data analysis technique.
From the analysis result, it is showed that the Kanban Supplier System in
PT Toyota Astra Motor. is good enough, even though there are many lackness,
mainly caused by the presence of problems influenced by internal factor (PT
Toyota Astra Motor) and external (The Supplier) which are : the difficulties of
controlling the amount of components and kanban issued, line stop and delayed
supplying the kanban which cause irregularity of kanban circulation, indiscipline of
workers in returning the kanban, and also delay from suppliers.
Therefore, in running the kanban system in the future, PT Toyota Astra
Motor should increase the training of its supplier, and also training and practical
work in field to increase an understanding and discipline of its workers.
