The implementation of the United States' Foreign Policy; defeating global terrorism and preventing proliferation of weapons of mass destruction towards Iraq
On September 11,2001, terrorists turned hijacked airliners into somewhat
guided missiles, destroying the twin towers of New York's World Trade
Center as well. as a sizeable section of the Pentagon, The attacks killed
thousands and dealt a deft blow to prime symbols of America's economic
and military might. The searing images of destruction left Americans with
a new, and perhaps inescapable, sense of vulnerability that will
permanently affect how the United States interacts with the rest of the
world,
The tragedy briefly changed the way the United States deals with
the world, It soon formulated a new approach to preserve its national
interests, peace and security, Therefore, the war against global terrorism
soon waged and the United States immediately prevent proliferation of
weapons of mass destruction.
A clear example is Iraq, a country that is accused to have a relation
with terrorism and alleged to have weapons of mass destruction. Thus, the
United States cannot stand still facing the threat of Iraq growing larger and
larger. It insisted to act before it is too late to take any action required, not
surprisingly it soon embarked upon Iraq to topple the regime of Saddam
Hussein.
America's successful war to topple Saddam Hussein appears to
have opened a new American century. The United States demonstrated the
stunning effectiveness of a military establishment that is second to none.
Washington also made clear that it is prepared to act as it sees fit,
launching the war against Iraq even though it failed to attain the approval
of the UN Security Council. The lessons seem to be clear. The countries
that opposed America had better think twice before they again cross the
world's only super power. Rogue nations, too, had better change their
ways - or prepare for the worst.
All these facts are somewhat manifestation of the National Security
Strategy of the United States of America, designed particularly to maintain
the peace and security of the United States.
