Preparation and characterizations of microalgae based N-doped hard carbons as anodes for sodium ion battery : laporan penelitian
In comparison with graphite, hard carbons can be used as anode materials for sodium ion battery due to the stable structures and wide interlayer spacing for the insertion/extraction of sodium ions during charging and discharging of the battery. However, to improve the electrochemical performance of hard carbon anodes, I required to increase its electrical conductivity. One way to increase the conductivity is to use N-doped hard carbons. Here we will prepare N-doped hard carbons originated from specific species of microalgae, known as Chlorella Pyrenaldosa by using hydrothermal carbonization followed by the simultaneous activation and doping process with sodamide (NaNH). The structural and physical characterizations of the carbon products will be investigated by several instruments such as Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) or Raman Spectroscopy. Finally, the electrochemical characterizations of hard carbon anodes for SIB will be conducted to assess the battery performance.
