Reksa pastoral keluarga dalam terang pemikiran Yohanes Paulus II
Christian families are now living in an unceasingly changing time.
Inevitably, some of them are facing hard and difficult family problems. Here, it is
clear that it is uneasy to raise a family and marriage responsibly. It is not as easy
as turning the palm of the hand. There are so many problems within marriage and
family life.
By using the qualitative research upon John Paul II’s works, I have found
that his ideas concerning marriage and family life shed light toward a plausible
solution for those facing the problems within family life. They can also be
pastoral ways to guide Christian families.
In a marriage, a man and a woman are united to perfect each other in an
exclusive relation as husband and wife. A man needs a woman to be a real
husband and a woman needs a man to be a real wife. The welfare of of the
spouses is the goal of marriage personalism, that is, being good spouses. Giving
and receiving challenges the spouses to grow as persons in a togetherness and
love. This very process is the essence of the well-being of the spouses.
John Paul II’s personalism is a light for marriage life, especially his
significant phrase “bonum coniugum” or the well-being of the spouses. Finally,
the personalist and institutional aspects of marriage cannot be devided.
