A successful establishment of a project heavily depends on its planning.
In addition, one of important things in developing a project plan is scheduling. By
implementing the scheduling process, all the available resources can be
allocated in such a way in order to fulfill the needs of every activity in each step of
the project implementation.
The most common project scheduling methods are the PERT, Program
Evaluation and Review Technique, and the CPM, Critical Path Method. These
methods assume that the needs of resources would always he able to be fulfilled
by the organization. However, in the practice, this case is hardly found.
An organization often faces situations that require the organization to do
several projects in the same time, or in a close time, with its limited resources.
This research will focus on such problems. In this research, a model of
scheduling on a multi project, which used the integer-programming model, has
been developed. The objective of the multi project Scheduling model is to
minimize the relative costs, which include idle-resource costs, overtime-resource
costs, late-fine costs, and setting-up costs.
The development of this multi-project-scheduling model involves some
factors such as the linkage of each activity in the project, the availability of the
resources, the implementing activities, the finishing project and its delay, the
interruptions, and the relative costs.
By implementing this multi-project-scheduling model, the organization will
be able to produce a feasible operational schedule and a well-established
resource allocation plan.
The results of the multi project-scheduling model are:
1. To have smaller relative exists with the implementation of interrupting factors.
2. To decrease the fluctuation of the needs on resources from one period to
another.
3. To have the projects finished on time by focusing more on the time
constraint.
